ACCUSED: James O. Jones (age 37) of Claremont, New Hampshire
VIOLATION: Possession of Stolen Property & Operation without Owners
Consent
ACCUSED: Schiloe M. Jones (age 29) of Newport, New Hampshire
VIOLATION: Fugitive from Justice (New Hampshire – Theft by Unauthorized
Taking $1500+)
SUMMARY OF INCIDENT: On July 21st, 2024, at approximately 0230
hours, officers with the Bellows Falls Police Department discovered a stolen
vehicle being operated on Rockingham St. The vehicle pulled into the former
Hetty Green Motel where officers made contact with James O. Jones of Claremont,
New Hampshire. After a brief investigation, Jones was issued a citation to appear
in Vermont Superior Court – Windham Criminal Division on 09/17/2024 at 0830 to
answer to the charges of Possession of Stolen Property and Operation without
Owners Consent.
While investigating the stolen vehicle, it was learned that another
involved party, Schiloe M. Smith of Newport, New Hampshire, had participated in
the taking of the vehicle, and had an extraditable warrant from the State of
New Hampshire. It was learned that Shiloe was currently at the Rodeway Inn in
Rockingham. Officers responded to the Rodeway Inn and subsequently placed
Schiloe under arrest. She was transported to the Bellows Falls Police
Department for the purpose of processing. At the completion of processing she
was issued a citation to appear in Vermont Superior Court - Windham Criminal
Division on 07/22/24 at 1230 hours to answer to the charge of Fugitive from
Justice. Schiloe was ordered held in lieu of $5,000 bail, and lodged at
Southern State Correctional Facility
The Bellows Falls Police Department was assisted by J&M Auto and the
Lebanon (NH) Police Department with regards to this investigation.
