 SUMMARY OF INCIDENT: On December 15th, 2021, officers with the Bellows Falls Police Department responded to 30 Henry St, the BF Community Bike Project, after receiving a report that the business had been burglarized.  ACCUSED: Zachary R. Bridge (age 30)                                          

 CITY, STATE OF RESIDENCE: Cambridgeport, Vermont            

 SUMMARY OF INCIDENT: On October 29th, 2021, at approximately 0928 hours, an officer with the Bellows Falls Police Department conducted a motor vehicle stop on West St after observing a motor vehicle violation. After contacting the occupants of the vehicle, the passenger, Zachary R. Bridge, 30, of Cambridgeport Vermont, was discovered to have two active arrest warrants issued by the Vermont Superior Court – Windsor Criminal Division. Bridge was arrested and upon searching him incident to arrest, indicators of criminal activity were located.

 A consent search of the vehicle was conducted and at the conclusion of the search, 50 bags of suspected heroin were located and seized from the vehicle.

 Bridge was transported to the Bellows Falls Police Department for the purpose of processing. At the completion of processing, Bridge was issued a citation to appear in Vermont Superior Court – Windham Criminal Division on 11/01/2021 to answer to the charge of possession of heroin as well as the two active warrants. Bridge was transported to Southern State Correctional Facility by the Windham County Sheriff’s Office in lieu of $1000 cash surety bail concurrent to the bail on the active warrants.

 ACCUSED: Kristen S. Smithwick (age 35)                                      

 CITY, STATE OF RESIDENCE: Falmouth, Massachusetts            

 SUMMARY OF INCIDENT: On October 21st, 2021, at approximately 1553 hours, an officer with the Bellows Falls Police Department arrested Kristen S. Smithwick, age 35, of Falmouth, Massachusetts for negligent operation, driving under the influence, and leaving the scene of an accident.

 Bellows Falls Dispatch received numerous calls regarding an erratic driver traveling northbound on Route 5 in the Town of Westminster almost into the Village of Bellows Falls. The vehicle was described as being all over the road and traveling at a high rate of speed. It was also reported that there was damage to the front of the vehicle.

 Officers located the vehicle on Atkinson St and made contact with operator, Smithwick. Signs of impairment were observer and Standardized Field Sobriety Tests were administered. At the conclusion of the tests, Smithwick was placed under arrest for suspicion of DUI and negligent operation. It was subsequently discovered that Smithwick had struck a street sign causing damage on Route 5 in the Town of Westminster in the area of a local automotive shop and failed to notify anyone regarding this. Smithwick was additionally charged with leaving the scene of an accident.

 SUMMARY OF INCIDENT: On October 9th, 2021, at approximately 1300 hours, an officer with the Bellows Falls Police Department arrested Kevin Cameron, age 56, of Brattleboro Vermont on an active instate arrest warrant issued by the Vermont Superior Court Windham Criminal Division.

 Officer’s located Cameron at the Waypoint Center where he was ultimately taken into custody and transported to the Bellows Falls Police Department. Cameron was ultimately transported to Southern State Correctional Facility in lieu of $200 bail. Cameron was additionally issued a Vermont Municipal Violation Complaint for possessing an open container of alcohol.

 On October 11th, 2021, at approximately 2005 hours, Officers again contacted Cameron at the Waypoint Center after discovering that he had failed to appear on said date as previously ordered and he again had an active arrest warrant. Cameron was again transported to the Bellows Falls Police Department. Cameron was transported to Southern State Correctional Facility in lieu of $200 bail.

Monty III of Bellows Falls, VT, was stopped on Green St. by an Officer from the Bellows Falls Police Department due to Monty’s driving privilege being criminally suspended. Monty was also found to be on conditions of release ordered by the Superior Court of Vermont-Windham Criminal Division, in which Monty was ordered not to operate a motor vehicle with a suspended license and not to engage in criminal behavior. Monty was arrested, processed at the Bellows Falls Police Department, and issued a citation to appear at a later date.

An investigation determined that Alias Hazen-Foster had assaulted an employee. Several attempts to locate Hazen-Foster were unsuccessful. On 09/27/2021 a search warrant was granted for Hazen-Foster’s residence on Rockingham Street. Entry was made and Alias Hazen-Foster was taken into custody. Hazen-Foster was lodged at S.S.C.F. in lieu of $5000.00 bail.

SUMMARY OF INCIDENT: On August 20th, 2021, at approximately 1256 hours, an officer with the Bellows Falls Police Department cited Stacey M. Martin, age 35, of Brattleboro, Vermont for retail theft from a local business as well as violation of conditions of release.

 Officers responded to Greater Falls Pharmacy after receiving a report of a female who had just walked out of the store with a pair of sunglasses without paying. The subject was ultimately identified as Martin.

 Martin was located and issued a citation to appear in Vermont Superior Court - Windham Criminal Division on 10/05/2021 to answer to the charges.

 MOTOR VEHICLE CRASH

 OPERATOR #1: Christopher W. Bascom (36) of Ludlow, Vermont

 VEHICLE #1: Black 2002 Yamaha Midnight Star

 OPERATOR #2: Tammy L. Westney (45) of Rockingham, Vermont

 VEHICLE #2: Black 2019 Ford Escape                                            

SUMMARY OF INCIDENT: On September 17th, 2021, at approximately 0750 hours, the Bellows Falls Police Department responded to the area of 240 Rockingham St for a report of a motor vehicle crash involving a motorcycle.

 Upon arrival an investigation was conducted. During the course of the investigation, it was determined that vehicle number one, operated by Bascom, was traveling south behind vehicle number two, operated by Westney. Westney began to slow for stopped traffic ahead of her and Bascom was unable to stop before colliding with the back of Westney’s vehicle.

 The crash caused moderate damage to both vehicle’s. Bascom was ultimately issued a Vermont Civil Violation Complaint for a violation of 23 VSA 800(a): operating without liability insurance.

 The Bellows Falls Police Department was assisted on scene by the Bellows Falls Fire Department, Golden Cross Ambulance, Walpole NH Police, Vermont AOT, and J&M Auto.
