INCIDENT: Untimely Death

SUMMARY OF INCIDENT: The Bellows Falls Police Department is investigating an untimely death reported Wednesday morning, Nov. 25th , 2020, at a residence on Pine St. in Bellows Falls, VT.

First responders were called at about 11:49 a.m. Wednesday to investigate a report of a female down and unresponsive in an apartment, located at 9 Pine St. First responders located an adult female, unresponsive, in the apartment. EMS/Police provided emergency care to the female. However, all lifesaving means were ineffective, and the female was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The death investigation is in its earliest stages. Detectives with the Bellows Falls Police Department are investigating the incident. The victim’s body will be brought to the Chief Medical Examiner’s Office in Burlington for an autopsy to determine the cause and manner of death. The victim was identified as, Elizabeth Swartz age 67.

One of the Officers on duty observed an equipment violation and conducted a motor vehicle stop. The subsequent investigation lead to his arrest for driving without his required ignition interlock device. Record was released on citation to appear in the Vermont Superior Court Windham Criminal Division at a later and time to answer for the charge.

SUMMARY OF INCIDENT:

On 11/14/2020 at approximately 2323 hours the Bellows Falls Police Department arrested Jason Braasch of Calais, Vermont for a Fugitive from Justice charge and Tyrone Pinder of Berlin, Vermont for having an active Vermont arrest warrant. One of the Officers on duty observed a moving violation and conducted a motor vehicle stop. The subsequent investigation found two of the three occupants of the vehicle had active arrest warrants. Braasch was issued a citation to appear in the Vermont Superior Court Windham Criminal Division at a later and time to answer for the Fugitive charge. Braasch was lodged at Southern State Correctional Facility in lieu of $15,000 dollars bail.

 

Pinder was issued a citation to appear in the Vermont Superior Court Washington Criminal Division at a later and time to answer for the Vermont arrest warrant. Pinder was lodged at Southern State Correctional Facility in lieu of $1,500 dollars bail.

ACCUSED: Kenneth J. Ganem (age 64)                                           

 

CITY, STATE OF RESIDENCE: Transient 

 

SUMMARY OF INCIDENT: On November 20th, 2020 at approximately 0854 hours, the Bellows Falls Police Department arrested Kenneth J. Ganum, age 64, a transient to the Bellows Falls area.

 

Officers on duty observed Ganum on Williams St and it was determined that he had an outstanding warrant issued by the Vermont Superior Court – Windsor Criminal Division. Ganum was ultimately placed under arrest and was transported to the Bellows Falls Police Department for processing.

 

Ganum was transported to Southern State Correctional Facility by the Windham County Sheriff’s Office where he was lodged on $200 bail.

SUMMARY OF INCIDENT: On November 21st, 2020 at approximately 1317 hours, the Bellows Falls Police Department arrested Joseph Critchfield, age 38, of Bellows Falls.

 

Officers on duty made contact with Critchfield on Williams St and it was determined that he had an outstanding warrant issued by the Vermont Superior Court – Windsor Criminal Division. Critchfield was ultimately placed under arrest and was transported to the Bellows Falls Police Department for processing.

 

Critchfield was released and issued a citation to appear in Vermont Superior Court – Windsor Criminal Division on 11/23/2020 at 1230 per the order of the court.

ACCUSED:    Elizabeth J. McAllister           Age: 58           City/State: Bellows Falls, VT

                       

 

SUMMARY OF INCIDENT: The Bellows Falls Police Department began an investigation into the distribution of Heroin in October of 2020. Over the course of the months of October and November, investigation revealed that Elizabeth J. McAllister was distributing heroin from her residence in Bellows Falls. This investigation was led by the Bellows Falls Police Department with the assistance of the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA). In the early morning hours of November 13th, 2020 members of the Bellows Falls Police Department, DEA, Hartford (VT) PD, and Walpole (NH) PD executed a search warrant on McAllister’s residence. Officers located and seized a firearm, heroin, and US Currency. McAllister was arrested and charged with four (4) counts of the Sale of Heroin; six (6) counts of Possession of Heroin; Persons prohibited from possessing a firearm; and cruelty to a child. She was lodged at the Southern State Correctional Facility where she was ordered held on $5,000 cash or surety bond with conditions. She was cited to appear on 11/13/20 at 12:30 pm in the Vermont Superior Court-Windham Criminal Division.

On 10/28/2020 at approximately 2218 hours the Bellows Falls Police Department arrested Michael D. McCann of Springfield, Vermont for possession of a controlled substance. The Officers on duty received a call from personnel at the 7-11 on Rockingham St. regarding suspicious activity in the store. Upon arrival Officers spoke with the suspect named above. The subsequent investigation found McCann to be in possession of a controlled substance. McCann was arrested and released on citation to appear in the Vermont Superior Court Windham Criminal Division at a later date and time to answer for the charge.
