CITY, STATE OF RESIDENCE: Bellows Falls, Vermont
SUMMARY OF INCIDENT: On December 30th, 2022, at approximately 2318 hours, an officer with the Walpole New Hampshire Police Department attempted to stop a vehicle on Route 12 in the Town of Walpole for observed motor vehicle violations. The vehicle ultimately fled the scene of the stop at a high rate of speed and the Walpole officer continued to attempt to stop the vehicle.
The vehicle continued into the Village of Bellows Falls via the New Arch Bridge and through the Village of Bellows Falls before proceeding into the Town of Westminster. Officers continued to attempt to stop the vehicle which drove in a grossly negligent manner while traveling through the Village of Bellows Falls and on Route 5 in Westminster. The operator eventually lost control of the vehicle and it crashed on Route 5 just south of the Rockingham Recycling Center.
Officers made contact and identified the operator as Daniel J. Carr, age 32, of Bellows Falls. While interacting with the Carr indicators of impairment were observed. Carr was subsequently transported to Springfield Hospital by Golden Cross Ambulance. At the hospital Standardized Field Sobriety Test’s were administered. It was also learned that Carr’s license was criminally suspended in the State of Vermont, he had provided false information to police, and was in violation of his court ordered conditions of release.
Carr was ordered held in lieu of $2,500 bail and lodged at Southern State Correctional Facility, per the court. Carr was ordered to appear in Vermont Superior Court – Windham Criminal Division on 01/03/2023 to answer to the charges.
