CASE #: 20BF001243

OFFICER: Interim Chief-Sgt. David Bemis

DATE/TIME: 5/13/20

LOCATION (specific):Westminster St. Bellows Falls, VT

SUMMARY OF INCIDENT: During the evening of May 13th, 2020 there was a celebration of life parade in the Village of Bellows Falls for an individual who had passed away. Although many of the individuals who took part in the vehicle parade were peaceful and calm, there was however an isolated group that unfortunately were driving recklessly. The Bellows Falls Police Department would like to thank friends and family that acted appropriately during the celebration of life and remembrance of the individual who had passed. We do not tolerate the display of reckless disregard of safety displayed by a select few. The Bellows Falls Police Department did conduct traffic enforcement during the procession and at least one Vermont Civil Violation Complaint was issued. We will be reviewing video and other associated media to identify the violators and appropriate action will be taken going forward. The Bellows Falls Police Department would like to remind citizens to avoid this type of behavior in the future if birthday and or other parades are conducted. Anyone with video or information can call the PD at 802-463-1234
