LOCATION (specific): Westminster St, Bellows Falls

VIOLATION: Driving Under the Influence, Driving with a Criminally Suspended License,

Cruelty to a Child, Arrest on Warrant (Instate)

ACCUSED: Marie A. O’Brien (age 37)

CITY, STATE OF RESIDENCE: Rockingham, Vermont

SUMMARY OF INCIDENT: On October 6th, 2022, at approximately 1900 hours, an officer with the Bellows Falls Police Department arrested Marie A. O’Brien, age 37, of Rockingham, Vermont for driving under the influence, driving with a criminally suspended license, cruelty to a child, and an active arrest warrant.

Officers made contact with a vehicle subsequently discovered to be driven by O’Brien in the parking lot of a local business on Westminster St, after officers had observed a motor vehicle violation. It was subsequently discovered that O’Brien had an active arrest warrant issued by the Vermont Superior Court – Windham Criminal Division as well as the fact that her license was criminally suspended in the State of Vermont.

Indicators of impairment were observed, and Standardized Field Sobriety Test’s were administered. At the completion of the tests O’Brien was placed under arrest for the arrest warrant, DLS, DUI, and Cruelty to a Child.

O’Brien was transported to the Bellows Falls Police Department for the purpose of processing. At the completion, she was issued a citation to appear in Vermont Superior Court – Windham Criminal Division on 11/22/2022 to answer to the charges. O’Brien was lodged at Southern State Correctional Facility in lieu of $200 bail, per the warrant.
